I have finally found the energy to bind my shimmering single girl quilt and now the hand stitching begins. I will be super cosy on the cold nights stitching away! The best tutorial I have found for binding is by Missouri Star Quilt Company over on you tube – Jenny is a quilting wonder! So worth watching and their store is a treasure trove.
Had some fun putting my machine through its paces, it’s the first time I’ve quilted a king size quilt and wow am i impressed with the Janome! Also used a grey variegated aurifil thread from the Eternal Maker in Chichester.
The spiral started in the centre and I spiraled out by eye, not perfect but I try and quilt by Jenny’s moto “finished is better than perfect’. It took days to quilt and ended up using washing up gloves to help, they worked brilliantly too.
The spiral started small and gradually got wider towards the edge, will take more photo’s once its bound and finished!
Work in progress, so far all the shimmer2 arcs are finished and I am now attaching the quarter inside and outer pale grey. Loving the delicate grey contrast as the fabric shimmer is enhanced. Hoping to get more sewn today at work, as tomorrow I have a big catch up on the Splendid Sampler blocks – had no time to spend sewing at home at all with lots of overtime at work. Tuesday I did get to have some fun at the Tea House Theatre‘s #needlepointtuesday, great place to hang out anyway but Tuesdays is knitting and stitching night with fabulous tea and cake!
Finished cog 1 and now onto the large cog. Slow progress but immensely satisfying and great to sew along and chat.
