unlined raw-edge coat | the Maker’s Atelier

The Unlined Raw-edge CoatOn Thursday I made this fabulous pattern up in a lovely 100% pure wool fabric from Fabrics Galore.  It is designed to be made from felted fabrics such as boiled wool, this is a form of felted wool – very blanket like.

unlined raw-edge coatJust in case it does frey I have stitched a regular stich close to the edge to stop any freying, although I think it may well look rather lovely with a slightly fluffed edge.

unlined raw-edge coat backHave already started to wear it and planning another in boiled wool.  If you’ve never made a coat it is brilliant pattern to start with, great instructions and very quick to make.
