Easter Bunting

Easter buntingDuring the move last summer quite a few boxes went missing and our Easter bunting was lost.  So I decided to make a new string to go with our new look, taking inspiration form Raumideen

Easter Bunny

I just adore her bunny!  Using Mac pages found a typeface and this is the font & size I used for my Happy Easter bunting.  Repuropsing a vintage linen sheet, cut out the pennants and cotton batting.  Tracing the rabbit (although someone called the bunny a hare) onto bonderweb and using black felt, found at MacCulloch & Wallis – very wide and great quality.

Happy Easter buntingThe pennants are hung from some bias binding I made out of scraps of gingham, left over from a Christmas gift project.

Easter buntingFor the pennants cut 2 pieces of vintage sheeting and 1 of batting.  Appliqued on the bunny and letters, then made a sandwich and 1/4 inch seam.  Clipping the corners off and turning though, with a 1/4 inch seam allowance used a stretch stitch that mimics hand quilting as a top stitch. it looks like

stretch stitch

it worked well and if you don’t have time there are some great printable buntings.  Do you decorated for Easter?

PS the pennant shape is form here – I enlarged it by 1/4 inch all round for seam allance.  A free download from a book by lovely Mandy Shaw.
