in search of haberdashery | London Haberdashery shops

Gutermann-Sew-All-ThreadYesterday I ran out of white thread and popped on a reel of overlocking thread that my machine just hated and caused it to repeatedly jam.  I ended up on a bus heading for Liberty, as I couldn’t think of anywhere nearer to go and I generally avoid the west end on a Saturday unless I’m working.  When I arrived home started searching haberdashers online for somewhere closer and thought I’d share what I found and those I know.

  1. A great list. Some i’m yet to explore so thanks for this. I’m going to add South – Wimbledon Sewing Centre. The staff really know their stuff and good prices too! East – Dalston Mills, Ridley Road Market.

  2. Wow — you’re so lucky that you can just pop in to Liberty. And I’ve seen lists of places to go in London, but none nearly as big as your list — thanks for listing them all. I think I saw a place named Shaukat on someone’s list too — it’s supposed to be for discounted Liberty fabrics — have you been there?
